Hunterdon County Sheriff Fred Brown honored for lifelong service in law enforcement at annual CrimeStoppers Award Night

HUNTERDON COUNTY, NJ – The Hunterdon County community proudly celebrated Sheriff Fred Brown’s distinguished career in law enforcement at the Hunterdon CrimeStoppers Award Night on Oct. 10.

The event, held at Beaver Brook Country Club, recognized Sheriff Brown for his unwavering dedication and lifelong service to the safety and well-being of the community, and honored many law enforcement personnel throughout the county for outstanding service in the line of duty, including detectives from the Hunterdon County Prosecutor’s Office.

County Clerk Mary Melfi and CEO for the Hunterdon County Chamber of Commerce, Chris Phelan shared some words of praise for the Sheriff along with Commissioner Director Jeff Kuhl who said, “I have known Sheriff Brown since the 1970’s when he first served as a patrolman in Raritan Township. Fred is a man of principle and continues to be a dedicated member of the law enforcement community. His leadership and dedication have made Hunterdon County a safer place for all its residents. We are honored to recognize his lifelong service this evening, and I am proud to call him my friend.”

In addition to partnering with local municipalities to provide patrol during heightened security alerts, Sheriff Brown has also led several important initiatives during his career including the Child ID Program, Hope One, the joint IDENT-A-SHRED days with County Clerk Mark Melfi, and Project Life Saver.

Sheriff Brown expressed his gratitude for the recognition, stating, “It has been a privilege to serve the people of Hunterdon County. I am deeply honored by this recognition from CrimeStoppers of Hunterdon. I share this award with all the dedicated law enforcement officers and community members that have supported me throughout my career.”

The awards night also served as a fundraiser for CrimeStoppers of Hunterdon, an organization dedicated to engaging the community in crime prevention and public safety efforts. The event featured a night of celebration, bringing together community leaders, law enforcement officers, and residents to honor local heroes.
