Driver injured after tractor-trailer crashes into tree on I-80 in Warren County

HOPE TOWNSHIP, NJ (Warren County) –  A tractor-trailer driver was injured after crashing into a tree on Interstate 80 Friday morning, according to New Jersey State Police spokesperson Sergeant Jeffrey Lebron.

The crash happened at around 6:42 a.m. on Interstate 80 eastbound at milepost 10.4 in Hope Township, Lebron said.

A preliminary police investigation revealed that a tractor-trailer, driven by a 22-year-old man from Lodi, CA, was traveling eastbound on I-80 when the tractor-trailer ran off the left side of the roadway, struck the guardrail, went into a ditch, and collided with a tree, Lebron said.

The driver sustained moderate injuries and was airlifted to an area hospital, Lebron said.

The crash remains under investigation and no additional information was available, Lebron said.
