
Two men arrested in Sussex County drug, money laundering investigation
SPARTA TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Sussex County) — Two men were arrested Friday in connection with an alleged drug manufacturing and money laundering operation in Sussex County, authorities said.
Devin Pupo, 38, of Sparta Township, and Anthony Buff, 25, of Newton, were taken into custody on May 23 after search warrants were executed at multiple locations in Sparta, including two businesses — Green Remedies at 53 Sparta Ave. and Zenshine Smoke Shop at 354 Lafayette Road, according to Acting Sussex County Prosecutor Sahil K. Kabse, Acting Chief of Detectives Nicholas Elmo, and Sparta Township Police Chief Jeffrey L. McCarrick.
Pupo was charged with first-degree maintaining a CDS production facility, first-degree conspiracy to maintain a CDS production facility, second-degree possession with intent to distribute CDS, and second-degree money laundering. Buff was charged with fourth-degree distribution of CDS.
Both were released pending court appearances at Sussex County Superior Court.
The arrests followed a multi-agency investigation involving the Sparta Township Police Department, Sussex County Prosecutor’s Office, Franklin Borough Police Department, West Milford Police Department, New Jersey State Police TEAMS Unit, Special Investigation North Unit, Crime Scene Investigation Unit, K9 Unit, the Newton Police Department, and the New Jersey State Division of Taxation.
