U.S. Mint unveils designs for 2026 semiquincentennial circulating coins
WASHINGTON, D.C. — The United States Mint on Wednesday unveiled the designs for its Semiquincentennial Circulating Coin Program, introducing new artwork that will appear for one year only on the nation’s 2026 dime, half-dollar, and quarter-dollar coins, the latter of which will feature five different designs.
The designs were revealed during an event at the National Constitution Center in Philadelphia. The coins, authorized by the Circulating Collectible Coin Redesign Act of 2020 and signed into law on Jan. 13, 2021, by President Donald J. Trump, will commemorate 250 years of American liberty.
Each coin will display a dual date — 1776 ~ 2026 — and imagery intended to reflect the nation’s founding principles and honor its history.
“The designs on these historic coins depict the story of America’s journey toward a ‘more perfect union,’ and celebrate America’s defining ideals of liberty,” said Acting Mint Director Kristie McNally. “We hope to offer each American the opportunity to hold our nation’s storied 250 years of history in the palms of their hands as we Connect America through Coins.”
The Semiquincentennial coins will enter circulation in 2026.
