Washington Township PD wishes K9 Axle a ‘healthy and much deserved’ retirement

WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP, NJ (Warren County) – The Washington Township Police Department is wishing K9 Axle a healthy and much deserved retirement.

K9 Axle joined the department on Sept. 16, 2015, and shortly thereafter, was certified in Patrol and Narcotics detection.

Throughout his career, K9 Axle answered 273 callouts resulting in him being credited for 161 arrests and performed 56 K9 demonstrations throughout the immediate area where he was able to showcase his skills and talents.

“We wish K9 Axle the best and know he will enjoy spending time with his handler Cpl. James Vernon and family,” police said.

Born and raised in Northwest NJ, Jay has a degree in Communications and has had a life-long interest in local radio and various styles of music. Jay has held numerous jobs over the years such as stunt car driver, bartender, voice-over artist, traffic reporter (award winning), NY Yankee maintenance crewmember and peanut farm worker. His hobbies include mountain climbing, snowmobiling, cooking, performing stand-up comedy and he is an avid squirrel watcher.
