Washington Township Police Department celebrates promotions, welcomes new officer

WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Warren County) — The Washington Township Police Department honored several officers Wednesday night during a ceremony recognizing well-earned promotions and the addition of a new member to the force.

Phil Smith was promoted to captain, Jerry Magyar to lieutenant, and David Burdge to sergeant. The department also welcomed its newest officer, Shane Deemer, who joins Washington Township from the Warren County Correctional Facility.

“Wednesday night was a special evening for our department,” police officials said in a statement. “We celebrated several well-deserved promotions and welcomed a new member to our team. Congratulations to all of our officers on their achievements, and thank you for your continued dedication to our community.”
