MOUNT OLIVE TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Morris County) — A Philadelphia woman was arrested after police said a vehicle fled an attempted traffic stop and later crashed into the backyard of a Mount Olive Township home.
At about 6:24 p.m. Friday, Sept. 18, a Mount Olive police officer on routine patrol observed a gray Toyota traveling east on Route 46 with its hazard lights on, according to police.
The officer attempted to stop the Toyota to conduct a welfare check on its occupants, but police said the vehicle instead accelerated away at a high rate of speed. The officer lost sight of the Toyota near Mount Olive Road.
A short time later, the Mount Olive Police Communications Center received a report of a vehicle that had crashed in the backyard of a home on Hillcrest Avenue.
A witness told police that a man and woman fled the crash scene and abandoned the vehicle.
During a search of the area, police located the woman, identified as Anastacia Novosyadlo, 38, of Philadelphia, hiding under a bush in the yard of a Pine Street residence, police said. She was arrested without incident.
Police said a search of Novosyadlo and the area where she was found yielded suspected cocaine, glass pipes containing suspected crack cocaine residue, suspected crack cocaine, baggies allegedly used for distribution, a pill bottle containing multiple pills and a large amount of cash.
Novosyadlo was charged with possession with intent to distribute, possession of cocaine and possession of drug paraphernalia. She was released pending a court hearing.
The Morris County Sheriff’s Office K-9 and Drone units assisted Mount Olive police.
Police said the investigation into the crash and the unidentified man remains ongoing.
