2-alarm house fire in Sussex County draws multiple departments early Friday
SANDYSTON TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Sussex County) — A residential structure fire early Friday morning in Sandyston Township prompted a multi-agency response and a second alarm, according to local fire officials.
Fire crews were dispatched at approximately 3:15 a.m. to the Hiram’s Grove section of the township for a reported structure fire. Responding units were quickly updated to a working residential fire with heavy flames visible.
A first-arriving officer requested additional resources, including an engine and tanker from a neighboring department. Shortly after, the first officer on scene reported the structure fully involved and called for a second alarm.
Sandyston Fire Department crews arrived and began fire suppression efforts, with additional units providing water supply and manpower. Mutual aid departments from surrounding areas assisted at the scene.
Firefighters operated for several hours to bring the fire under control and conduct overhaul operations.
No additional details, including possible injuries or the cause of the fire, were immediately available. Officials thanked all responding agencies for their assistance both on scene and behind the scenes.
