2 injured in diesel fuel spill, crash on I-80 in Morris County
PARSIPPANY-TROY HILLS, NJ (Morris County) – Two people were injured after a diesel fuel spill and crash on Interstate 80 in Morris County Monday afternoon, according to New Jersey State Police spokesperson Trooper Troy McNair.
The crash happened at around 1:21 p.m. on Interstate 80 eastbound at milepost 46.2 in Parsippany-Troy Hills, McNair said.
A preliminary investigation revealed that a Honda SUV and Freightliner box truck were traveling eastbound on I-80, when the Honda SUV and Freightliner box truck collided, causing the box truck to run off the roadway to the right and strike the guardrail. The box truck then began to spill diesel fluid, McNair said.
The driver and passenger of the box truck suffered minor injuries and were transported to an area hospital, McNair said.
The crash remains under investigation and no additional information was available, McNair said.
