6 injured, 2 juveniles flown to hospital after head-on crash on Route 31 in Hunterdon County

HAMPTON BOROUGH, NJ (Hunterdon County) – Six people people were injured in a head-on crash on Route 31 in Hunterdon County on Saturday night, according to New Jersey State Police spokesperson Trooper Troy McNair.

The crash happened at around 11:02 p.m. on Route 31 northbound at milepost 39.4 in Hampton Borough, McNair said.

A preliminary police investigation revealed that a Subaru SUV was traveling southbound on Route 31 in the left lane and a Ford pickup truck was traveling northbound when the Ford entered the southbound lane of travel and collided with the front of the Subaru, McNair said.

As a result of the crash, the driver of the Ford suffered moderate injuries and was transported to an area hospital, McNair said.

The driver and the front passenger of the Subaru suffered moderate injuries and were transported to an area hospital. Three rear seat juvenile passengers suffered serious injuries and one was transported by ambulance and the other two were flown to an area hospital, McNair said.

The crash remains under investigation and no additional information was available, McNair said.
