Driver ejected from vehicle in Sussex County crash, flown to hospital

SANDYSTON TOWNSHIP, NJ (Sussex County) – A driver was flown to a hospital after a crash in Sussex County early Monday morning, according to New Jersey State Police spokesperson Sergeant Jeffrey Lebron.

The crash happened at around 12:40 a.m. on Sunrise Mountain Road in Sandyston Township, Lebron said.

A preliminary police investigation revealed that a Dodge pickup truck, driven by Jack Insinga, 18, of Branchville, was traveling southbound on Sunrise Mountain Road, Lebron said.

Approximately 0.6 miles north of Upper North Shore Road, the Dodge traveled off the left side of the road, impacted the guardrail, overturned into a wooded area and struck several trees, Lebron said.

During the crash, Insinga was ejected, and the Dodge ignited on fire, Lebron said.

As a result of the crash, Insinga suffered serious injuries and was airlifted to an area hospital, Lebron said.

The crash remains under investigation and no additional information was available, Lebron said.
