Regular weekday service resumes Monday on Morris & Essex, Gladstone, and Montclair-Boonton lines after Sept. 26 derailment repairs
NEW JERSEY — NJ Transit said regular weekday service resumed Monday, October 6, on the Morris and Essex, Gladstone Branch, and Montclair-Boonton rail lines following repairs to track damage caused by a slow-speed work train derailment on Friday, September 26, at Summit Station.
Crews worked through the week and weekend to complete the necessary repairs, allowing trains to return to normal schedules after several days of single-track operations between Millburn and Summit that caused delays and service adjustments.
“We appreciate your patience as crews continue to work around the clock to make the necessary track repairs to resume regular weekday service on the M&E and Montclair-Boonton Lines as soon as possible,” NJ Transit said in a statement.
During the service disruption, several trains were canceled or modified, with detours, additional stops, and schedule changes to accommodate passengers. NJ Transit advised riders to continue checking njtransit.com/ABC for any further service updates.
