Centenary University inducts first-generation students, faculty into Tri-Alpha honor society
HACKETTSTOWN, N.J. (Warren County) — Centenary University has inducted 10 students, along with two faculty members and one staff member, into Alpha Alpha Alpha, a national honor society recognizing the academic achievement and leadership of first-generation college students.
The induction ceremony was held Nov. 7, on the eve of National First-Generation College Student Day, which recognizes the challenges first-generation students overcome and their contributions to higher education, the workforce and their communities.
Alpha Alpha Alpha, commonly known as Tri Alpha, honors students who are the first in their families to earn a bachelor’s degree and who demonstrate academic excellence, leadership and service. The society also recognizes faculty and staff who provide exceptional support to first-generation students.
“Centenary University is extremely proud of our inductees, who demonstrate that first-gen students have the potential to achieve great things in the classroom and beyond,” said Danielle Kovach, Ed.D., adjunct professor of special education and Tri Alpha faculty advisor, who was also inducted during the ceremony. “Tri Alpha promotes academic excellence, personal growth, and leadership development, while providing opportunities for meaningful campus and community engagement.”
