Centenary University names Andy Cobb CFO

HACKETTSTOWN, N.J. (Warren County) — Centenary University has appointed Andy Cobb as its chief financial officer, a move university leaders said will strengthen financial planning and support long-term growth.

University President John R. Schol announced the appointment Tuesday. Cobb will report to Schol and oversee Centenary’s financial operations, including financial management, resource allocation and planning, with a focus on aligning operations with the university’s priorities, according to the university.

“We are excited to welcome Andy Cobb to Centenary University,” said President Schol. “His proven ability to lead with vision and integrity gives us confidence as we build a future where student success, university vitality, and world engagement remain at the heart of everything we do.”

Cobb most recently served as an assistant vice president at AT&T, where he led financial operations in large organizations and managed complex budgeting and multi-year change initiatives, the university said. During more than 20 years with the company, he held multiple CFO and director-level roles across business units, and earlier worked in senior financial planning and analysis positions at MCI Telecommunications.

In accepting the role, Cobb pointed to Centenary’s mission and student focus.

“Centenary’s mission, especially its commitment to first-generation college students and community impact, is what inspired me to join this community,” he said. “This is a moment that calls for clarity, discipline, and hope. I’m honored to work with President Schol and the leadership team to strengthen Centenary’s financial foundation for the long term.”

Cobb, a Madison resident, also serves as a trustee and CFO for a United Methodist Church, is a board member and CFO of Acorn Academy, mentors students at Drew University, and is involved with Madison Athletics, the university said.
