Morris County man charged with DWI after police stop driver going 25 in 50 mph zone

DENVILLE TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Morris County) — A Randolph Township man was charged with driving while intoxicated after Denville police stopped a vehicle that officers said was traveling well below the speed limit and drifting out of its lane on Route 10.

Police said the stop occurred Jan. 15, at about 4:20 a.m. on Route 10 westbound after officers observed a vehicle traveling about 25 mph in a posted 50 mph zone and failing to maintain its lane.

During the investigation, the driver, Luis Cadena, 41, of Randolph, showed signs of intoxication, police said. Cadena was arrested on suspicion of DWI and taken to Denville Police Headquarters for processing, authorities said.

Cadena was issued motor vehicle summonses for driving while intoxicated, reckless driving, careless driving, refusal to submit to breath testing, failure to maintain lane and having an open container of cannabis in a motor vehicle. He was later released on his own recognizance pending a future appearance in Denville Municipal Court.
