MOUNT OLIVE TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Morris County) — Two drivers suffered serious injuries Tuesday afternoon in a crash on Route 206 in the Flanders section of Mount Olive Township, authorities said.
Mount Olive police said they received multiple 9-1-1 calls at about 2:51 p.m. reporting a traffic crash on the highway. A preliminary investigation found that a white Chevrolet Tahoe driven by a 38-year-old man from Randall, Texas, collided with a black Toyota Corolla driven by a 22-year-old woman from Hopatcong.
Both drivers sustained serious injuries and were transported to Morristown Medical Center for treatment. Their identities were not released.
Mount Olive police responded along with Atlantic EMS, the Flanders Fire Department and the Budd Lake Fire Department. The crash investigation is being conducted by the Mount Olive Police Department’s Investigations Division and Traffic Unit, with assistance from the Morris County Sheriff’s Department Emergency Services Unit and Criminal Investigative Section and the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit, police said.
The New Jersey Department of Transportation assisted with traffic diversion as Route 206 was closed in both directions for about three hours during the investigation, according to police.
