Hunterdon County honors Eagle Scout for trail project at Horseshoe Bend Park
KINGWOOD TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Hunterdon County) — Hunterdon County officials recognized a local Scout for achieving the rank of Eagle Scout and completing a community improvement project at a county park.
The Hunterdon County Board of County Commissioners honored William Perry of Scouts BSA Troop 62 during its April 7 meeting, citing his leadership and service in earning Scouting’s highest rank.
Perry’s Eagle Scout project focused on improving accessibility at Horseshoe Bend Park in Kingwood Township. He designed and built a new access trail connecting to an existing blue trail, replacing a steep, erosion-prone path that had been difficult for visitors to navigate.
The project included clearing rocks and brush, installing wood chips to stabilize the trail, lining the path with rocks to prevent erosion and planting saplings to enhance the surrounding area.
Perry, a junior at Hunterdon Central Regional High School, is enrolled in the Homeland Security and Law Enforcement Program at the Hunterdon County Vocational School District.
Commissioner Jeff Kuhl praised Perry’s achievement and the long-term benefit of his work.
“Earning the rank of Eagle Scout is a remarkable accomplishment that reflects years of hard work, leadership, and service,” said Commissioner Kuhl. “William’s project at Horseshoe Bend Park will benefit residents and visitors for years to come, and it is a great example of the positive impact our young people can have on their communities. Time and again, Eagle Scouts go on to become outstanding leaders, and here in Hunterdon County we are fortunate to see so many of them grow into individuals who make a meaningful difference.”
County officials also extended congratulations to Perry and recognized his dedication to community service.
