Fire destroys barn in Morris County; crews battle blaze for hours

WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Morris County) — Firefighters from multiple departments responded to a large barn fire Tuesday night in the Fairmount section of Washington Township, officials said.

The fire was reported around 8:30 p.m. April 21, with the first units arriving within four minutes. Upon arrival, crews found a fully involved large barn with multiple nearby exposures, authorities said.

Firefighters from Washington Township were joined by crews from Long Valley, Fairmount, Schooleys Mountain, Chester, Califon and other mutual aid partners to bring the blaze under control.

Emergency crews remained on scene for approximately seven hours working to contain and extinguish the fire.

No additional information, including the cause of the fire or whether there were any injuries, was immediately available.
