Apparent accidental firearm discharge at Raritan Township Police Department under investigation

RARITAN TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Hunterdon County) — The Hunterdon County Prosecutor’s Office is investigating an apparent accidental firearm discharge that occurred Friday at the Raritan Township Police Department, authorities said.

The incident happened May 1 at the conclusion of a firearms training session, officials said.

A single bullet was discharged during the incident, and no one was struck. However, one officer sustained a minor injury from the slide of the handgun when the discharge occurred.

The incident remains under investigation, and no additional details were immediately available.
