Hackettstown BID’s Maifest returns Saturday with food, music and contests

HACKETTSTOWN, N.J. (Warren County) — Hackettstown BID businesses will celebrate the arrival of spring with the return of Maifest on May 16, featuring live entertainment, German-inspired traditions, food and drink specials, and activities throughout town.

The annual event, organized by the Hackettstown Business Improvement District and modeled after traditional German spring festivals, will include roaming performances by the Oompah band Peter and the Wolf-Gang, Maypole dancers, live music, contests and family-friendly activities hosted by participating businesses.

Festivities will take place throughout the day at Hackettstown BID businesses.

Among the featured events is a grand opening ribbon-cutting ceremony for Team Car Wash on Mountain Avenue scheduled for 11:30 a.m. At 12:30 p.m., Mayor Jerry DiMaio will participate in a ceremonial barrel tap at Czig Meister Brewing Co.

Additional activities include face painting, bracelet-making for children, a sip-and-paint event, a steinholding competition, beard and mustache contests, and a best German attire competition.

Several venues will also host live music performances throughout the afternoon and evening, including performances by Jimmy Pink & The Ego, Uncle Stump, Chris Smith, Joe K, Six String Stories and Peter Lister.

Living Spirits Distillery plans to release a special small-batch Black Forest cherry brandy and sour cherry liqueur during the festival, while local restaurants, breweries and distilleries will offer food and beverage specials throughout the event.

Organizers encouraged residents and visitors to support local shops, eateries, distilleries and breweries during the celebration.
