
2 critically injured in Somerset County crash, authorities say
NORTH PLAINFIELD BOROUGH, N.J. (Somerset County) — Two people suffered critical injuries following a motor vehicle crash early Monday morning in North Plainfield, according to the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office.
Somerset County Prosecutor John P. McDonald, Acting Chief of County Detectives Meredith McKay and North Plainfield Police Chief Alan McKay announced an investigation into the crash, which occurred on Route 22 West and Somerset Street.
Authorities said North Plainfield police officers responded to the scene at approximately 3:15 a.m. Monday after a vehicle traveling south on Somerset Street toward Route 22 West struck a concrete barrier near the intersection.
Police determined that the driver, an adult female Franklin Township resident, and the lone passenger, an adult male North Plainfield resident, suffered serious injuries in the crash.
Both individuals were transported to local trauma hospitals and were listed in critical condition, according to authorities.
Members of the Somerset County Collision Analysis Reconstruction Team responded to assist with the investigation alongside the North Plainfield Police Department Traffic Safety Bureau.
Officials said the investigation remains ongoing pending the results of the Collision Analysis Reconstruction Team’s findings.
