Five injured after SUV overturns off I-78 in Hunterdon County

LEBANON BOROUGH, N.J. (Hunterdon County) — Five people suffered moderate injuries Friday after an SUV left Interstate 78, went airborne and overturned in a parking lot in Lebanon Borough, according to New Jersey State Police.

Troopers responded at approximately 2:49 p.m. to the westbound lanes of Interstate 78 near milepost 21.1.

A preliminary investigation found that a Toyota SUV was traveling west on the highway when the driver lost directional control of the vehicle. The SUV then ran off the roadway to the right, became airborne, traveled through a fence and overturned in the parking lot of 600 Corporate Drive, State Police spokesperson Trooper II Christopher Postorino said.

The driver and four passengers sustained moderate injuries and were transported to an area hospital for treatment.

The crash remains under investigation, and no additional information was immediately available.
