Pickup truck, landscape trailer catch fire after head-on crash in Sussex County

FRANKFORD TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Sussex County) — A pickup truck and landscape trailer caught fire following a head-on crash Wednesday morning on County Route 565 near Losey Road in Frankford Township, according to the Frankford Township Fire Department.

Firefighters and the Blue Ridge Rescue Squad were dispatched around 8:47 a.m. for a reported two-vehicle crash with injuries. Shortly after the initial dispatch, the Sussex County Sheriff’s 911 Center reported that one of the vehicles was on fire.

Sussex County Fire Marshal and Frankford Fire Official arrived and confirmed that two vehicles had been involved in the crash and that a pickup truck and landscape trailer were fully involved in flames, according to the fire department.

Firefighters deployed a handline and quickly extinguished the fire. Crews then overhauled the scene to confirm the fire was fully extinguished.

Atlantic EMS assessed the occupants of both vehicles. According to the fire department, all occupants declined further medical treatment.

The cause of the crash was not immediately known.
