Bucco requests visits to five NJ Transit stations in Morris County to address commuter concerns

MORRIS COUNTY, N.J. — State Sen. Anthony Bucco, R-Morris, Passaic, is requesting visits to five NJ Transit train stations in the 25th Legislative District to assess station conditions, discuss service reliability and safety, and address concerns raised by commuters.

In an Oct. 23 letter to NJ Transit President and CEO Kris Kolluri, Bucco requested that Kolluri or a member of his leadership team accompany him on visits to the Dover, Morristown, Madison, Convent Station and Mount Arlington train stations.

The senator said the visits would provide an opportunity to evaluate station conditions firsthand, meet with NJ Transit officials and better understand the experiences of passengers who rely on the rail system for daily transportation.

“These visits are important because so many residents in our district rely on NJ TRANSIT every day to get to work, school, and other destinations. I want to review these stations firsthand alongside NJ TRANSIT staff to assess conditions, discuss service reliability and safety, and better understand the experiences and concerns of the riders who depend on them.

“On-site visits will also provide an opportunity to learn more about NJ TRANSIT’s priorities, planned projects and upgrades, and the resources available to the communities that host these stations. Just as importantly, they will allow us to identify areas for improvement and explore how my office can work constructively with NJ TRANSIT to address local concerns.”

In the letter, Bucco said his office had previously contacted NJ Transit about arranging the visits and acknowledged receiving a prompt response from the agency’s staff.

He said the proposed meetings would also allow him to learn more about NJ Transit’s planned improvements, available resources and priorities for the communities served by the five stations.

Bucco emphasized that he wants to maintain communication with the transit agency and identify opportunities for cooperation on issues affecting local commuters.

“My goal is to ensure that we have an open dialogue about what is working well, where challenges remain, and what steps can be taken to improve the experience for our commuters,” Bucco wrote.

The senator thanked NJ Transit staff for their assistance in coordinating the visits and expressed interest in working with the agency to improve the commuting experience for passengers throughout the district.

No dates for the proposed station visits were announced.
