Man arrested in connection with Morris County crash and drug investigation

MOUNT OLIVE TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Morris County) — A Philadelphia man has been arrested in connection with a September incident in which a vehicle fled an attempted traffic stop and crashed into the backyard of a Mount Olive Township home, according to police.

Andrew T. Fehrle, 33, of Philadelphia, was taken into custody Nov. 1 by the Delaware River Port Authority on an outstanding warrant issued by Mount Olive Township authorities in connection with the Sept. 18 incident.

According to the Mount Olive Township Police Department, Fehrle was identified during the investigation as the man who fled the crash scene along with a Philadelphia woman who was arrested shortly after the incident.

The original incident occurred around 6:24 p.m. Friday, Sept. 18, when a Mount Olive police officer on routine patrol observed a gray Toyota traveling east on Route 46 with its hazard lights activated.

Police said the officer attempted to stop the vehicle to conduct a welfare check on its occupants, but the Toyota accelerated away at a high rate of speed. The officer subsequently lost sight of the vehicle near Mount Olive Road.

A short time later, the Mount Olive Police Communications Center received a report of a vehicle that had crashed in the backyard of a residence on Hillcrest Avenue. A witness told police that a man and woman had fled the scene, leaving the vehicle behind.

During a search of the surrounding area, officers located the woman, identified as Anastacia Novosyadlo, 38, of Philadelphia, hiding under a bush in the yard of a Pine Street residence. She was arrested without incident.

Police said a search of Novosyadlo and the area where she was found yielded suspected cocaine, glass pipes containing suspected crack cocaine residue, suspected crack cocaine, baggies allegedly used for drug distribution, a pill bottle containing multiple pills and a large amount of cash.

Novosyadlo was charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance with intent to distribute, possession of cocaine and possession of drug paraphernalia. She was released pending a court hearing.

The Morris County Sheriff’s Office K-9 and Drone units assisted Mount Olive police during the investigation.

Following the incident, investigators identified Fehrle as the male suspect and obtained a warrant for his arrest.

On Nov. 1, Mount Olive police were notified by the Delaware River Port Authority that Fehrle had been apprehended on the outstanding warrant. A Mount Olive officer responded to take custody of Fehrle, who was subsequently transported to the Morris County Correctional Facility.

Fehrle was charged with obstruction, possession of a controlled dangerous substance, possession of a controlled dangerous substance with intent to distribute and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Police said Fehrle remains lodged in the Morris County Correctional Facility pending a court hearing.
