Boil water advisory issued for four Warren County towns after main break
UPDATE: Boil water advisory remains in effect for parts of Warren County despite completed repairs
WARREN COUNTY, N.J. — A boil water advisory has been issued for Franklin Township, Mansfield Township, Washington Borough and Washington Township in Warren County after a water main break, New Jersey American Water announced.
The break occurred near the corner of Prospect Street and Church Street in Washington Borough. The affected main has been isolated, and crews are working to make repairs, the company said.
“As a precaution, the company is implementing a Boil Water Advisory until testing of the water supply is deemed satisfactory,” New Jersey American Water stated. Customers will be notified when the advisory is lifted.
Effective immediately, residents are instructed to bring tap water to a rolling boil for one minute and allow it to cool before use, or rely on bottled water. Boiled or bottled water should be used for drinking, food preparation, brushing teeth, making ice, washing produce, cooking, and cleaning dishes until further notice.
The company also advises residents to discard uncooked food, beverages or ice cubes made with tap water during the advisory, avoid swallowing water while bathing, and provide pets with boiled or bottled water.
Updates will be shared through New Jersey American Water’s emergency notification system and online at newjerseyamwater.com/alerts. Customers with questions can contact the Customer Service Center at 1-800-272-1325.
