Boil water advisory lifted in Allamuchy after water main break
ALLAMUCHY TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Warren County) — A boil water advisory issued after a water main break in the Old Farm Village area has been lifted, township officials announced Thursday.
The advisory was put in place after a break Tuesday evening disrupted service to residents on the public water system. The break was repaired Wednesday, but the advisory remained in effect until testing confirmed the water was safe.
Officials said it is no longer necessary to boil water before use.
Residents are encouraged to take several precautionary steps following the advisory, including running faucets for three to five minutes to flush plumbing, cleaning automatic ice makers and water chillers, and draining and refilling hot water heaters if set below 113 degrees. Those with water softeners or filtration systems should follow manufacturer-recommended procedures, and water reservoirs in tall buildings should be drained and refilled as needed.
Township officials apologized for the inconvenience and thanked residents for their patience during the advisory period.
