Brad Perry sworn in as Raritan Township mayor, outlines priorities for 2026

RARITAN TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Hunterdon County) — The Raritan Township Committee appointed Brad Perry as mayor for 2026 during its annual reorganization meeting on Jan. 6, also naming Committeewoman Robyn Fatooh as deputy mayor.

Perry, a township resident since 2017, outlined an agenda focused on preserving open space, improving communication with residents, maintaining fiscal discipline and supporting first responders. He previously served as a firefighter with the Raritan Township Fire Company and as a member of the township’s Zoning Board of Adjustment before joining the Township Committee in 2023. Perry holds a doctorate in pharmacy and works in regulatory affairs in the pharmaceutical industry.

“One thing near and dear to my heart is maintaining our ‘rural charm’ through open space preservation,” Perry said. “21.1% of our township is now preserved land—that is 5,079 acres—and we must continue to cherish our farmland and open spaces.”

As part of his plan to expand the use of preserved land, Perry announced a proposal to create a new Recreation Committee aimed at increasing community engagement and enhancing township parks.

“This year, I’m proposing a new Recreation Committee to breathe life into our parks and open spaces,” Perry said. “Communication is the lifeblood of a healthy democracy. Residents will have another resource to make their opinions heard, promote community events, and formulate new ideas for recreational activities and the annual Holiday Lights event.”

Perry said public safety and fiscal responsibility will be central to his administration’s approach.

“I will be a fierce advocate for our emergency services, ensuring they have the resources to do their jobs safely while keeping us safe,” Perry said. “But we must also plan ahead and have an honest conversation about finances. My goal is to aggressively explore shared service agreements and grant opportunities to reduce the burden on our taxpayers. We have to find smarter, more efficient ways to deliver the same high-quality services residents expect. We will continue to aim for stabilization and responsible stewardship of your investment.”

The mayor said his administration will work with township officials and residents throughout the year to advance these priorities while preserving the character of the community.
