CCM to present “Yankee Doodle Dandy” musical in April celebrating America’s 250th anniversary

RANDOLPH TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Morris County) — County College of Morris will present a four-night run of the musical “Yankee Doodle Dandy” in April as part of celebrations marking the nation’s 250th anniversary.

The production, presented by the Marielaine Mammon School of Music, Performing Arts, and Music Technologies, will run April 15–18 at 7:30 p.m. in Dragonetti Auditorium.

The show highlights the life and career of George M. Cohan, a composer, playwright and performer known for his contributions to American musical theater, including patriotic songs such as “You’re a Grand Old Flag” and “Give My Regards to Broadway.”

CCM student Bryan Torres of Morris Plains stars as Cohan, portraying his rise from vaudeville performer to a leading figure on Broadway.

“From tentative first steps to a joyful celebration of music and teamwork, our students have brought “Yankee Doodle Dandy” to life with heart, energy and the true spirit of theatre,” said Director Marielaine Mammon, chairperson of the Marielaine Mammon School of Music, Performing Arts and Music Technologies at CCM.

The cast also includes students from across the region, with roles portraying members of Cohan’s family, colleagues and figures from his career in entertainment.

Officials said the production offers a contemporary take on Cohan’s story while reflecting themes tied to the nation’s Semiquincentennial, including creativity, resilience and patriotism.

Tickets are $15 for general admission and $10 for students, alumni, children under 12 and seniors. Tickets can be purchased at https://bookstore.ccm.edu/category/tickets-events/theater-shows.
