Centenary University President Dale Caldwell honored by NJ School Boards Association

Milestone Award recognizes Dr. Caldwell's service to the New Brunswick Board of Education and the state's educational community

HACKETTSTOWN, N.J. (Warren County) — Centenary University President Dale Caldwell, Ed.D., was recently recognized with a Milestone Award by the New Jersey School Boards Association for his service to the state’s education community.

A longtime resident of New Brunswick, Caldwell retired from the New Brunswick Board of Education after serving for 25 years, including as board president.

During his tenure on the board, he was named New Jersey School Board Member of the Year by the association. A former K-12 administrator, Caldwell also advanced the state’s educational goals as former president of the board of the Educational Services Commission of New Jersey.

Caldwell became president of Centenary University on July 1, 2023. Since then, he has leveraged his experience to expand access to higher education for first-generation college students, working adults, community college students and vocational students.

Under his leadership, Centenary has increased student scholarship support and introduced academic programs and community partnerships designed to improve career outcomes for traditional college-age students, nontraditional learners and members of the local business community.

Born and raised in Northwest NJ, Jay has a degree in Communications and has had a life-long interest in local radio and various styles of music. Jay has held numerous jobs over the years such as stunt car driver, bartender, voice-over artist, traffic reporter (award winning), NY Yankee maintenance crewmember and peanut farm worker. His hobbies include mountain climbing, snowmobiling, cooking, performing stand-up comedy and he is an avid squirrel watcher. Jay has been a guest on America’s Morning Headquarters,program on The Weather Channel, and was interviewed by Sam Champion.
