Centenary University to host 2026 literacy conference featuring Timothy Rasinski

HACKETTSTOWN, N.J. (Warren County) — Centenary University’s School of Education and Humanities will host its annual literacy conference March 27, featuring international reading expert Timothy Rasinski, Ph.D., as keynote speaker.

The conference, titled “The Art and Science of Teaching Reading,” will run from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the university’s David and Carol Lackland Center. Organizers said previous events have drawn more than 100 participants.

Sponsored by Centenary’s Master of Education in Literacy Instruction Program and ESL Teacher Certification Program, the event will focus on research-based reading instruction and practical classroom strategies. Rasinski will deliver his keynote presentation virtually.

Director of Centenary University’s Master of Education in Literacy Instruction and ESL Teacher Certification Program Lexis McCoy, Ed.D., said the event is designed to support educators across the state.

“This event provides educators and school leaders with an opportunity to learn about new research, collaborate with fellow educators, and gain ideas that they can bring back to their school districts. It is a great day to show our appreciation for the amazing educators in New Jersey’s schools who are skilled practitioners and thoughtful scholars,” McCoy said.

The conference will include breakout sessions, a luncheon and networking opportunities for K-8 educators, administrators, instructional coaches and curriculum directors from public and private schools.

Centenary’s graduate education programs offer master’s and doctoral degrees in special education, leadership, educational practice and literacy instruction. The university’s Master of Education in Literacy Instruction Program is recognized by the International Literacy Association.

Registration for the conference is $99 and includes lunch. Questions can be directed to Lexis.McCoy@CentenaryUniversity.edu.
