Chester Township residents can apply for bear-resistant trash cans

CHESTER TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Morris County) — The New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP) will provide Chester Township with 166 bear-resistant trash cans in October, Mayor Tim Drag announced.

To ensure fair distribution, township residents must apply for a container by Oct. 17. Applications are available online through the township website. To fill out the form, click here. Officials stressed that supplies are limited, and not all applicants will receive a can.

Residents selected to receive a container will later be asked to participate in a DEP-issued survey as part of the program.
