Community invited to explore criminal justice, law enforcement, and public safety at County College of Morris on May 6
RANDOLPH TOWNSHIP, NJ (Morris County) – County College of Morris (CCM) is excited to invite the public to its fourth annual Criminal Justice Day, to be held on Tuesday, May 6, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
This free, engaging event will offer members of the community, including high school and college students and their families, an insightful look into the world of the criminal justice system, including law enforcement and public safety.
Over 20 federal, state, and local agencies, along with education professionals, will be on campus with exhibits and equipment, offering live demonstrations. Activities include fingerprinting, pathology lab exercises, and crime scene investigations. Visitors will have the opportunity to observe a ballistic tactical unit, firearms simulator, mini-submarine, jet ski, and helicopter, as well as see patrol horses, bikes, safety trucks, shields, and helmets. Organizations such as the FBI, New Jersey State Police Mounted Unit, Morris County’s Office of Emergency Management, and various township police departments will provide insights into their roles and internship opportunities.
“Whether you’re considering a career in criminal justice or simply curious about the important work happening in our communities, this event offers something for everyone,” said Dr. Maureen Kazaba, professor of Criminal Justice. “Numerous federal, state, and local agencies are ready to showcase their skills, and we encourage attendees to come and explore, ask questions, and engage with the experts who are shaping the future of public safety.”
Randolph High School teacher Justin Matyas, who attended a previously held Criminal Justice Day at CCM, said, “It’s a fantastic chance for students and the community to connect with law enforcement professionals and gain insight into their daily responsibilities.” He emphasized the invaluable networking opportunities this community event provides. Matyas also noted that CCM’s sponsorship of the event can help pave the way for high school students to pursue careers in the field through a college education.
Interested students—and especially educators bringing a group—can pre-register at https://forms.office.com/r/vJmF9AVdAA.
