Congressman Kean, Hunterdon County commissioners celebrate historic federal grant toward second phase of new emergency services training center
ANNANDALE, NJ (Hunterdon County) – Congressman Tom Kean Jr. on Wednesday presented a ceremonial check for a nearly $3.2 million grant, as part of the Fiscal Year 2024 appropriations bills that were signed into law.
The grant will be used to complete the second phase of the new Hunterdon County Emergency Services Training Center located on Petticoat Lane in Annandale.
The ceremonial check presentation was attended by Commissioner Director Jeff Kuhl, Deputy Director Susan Soloway, Commissioner Shaun C. Van Doren, Assembly Minority Leader John DiMaio, Director of Public Safety, Brayden Fahey, and first responders representing South Branch Emergency Services, Pattenburg Rescue Squad, and the Frenchtown Fire Department.
“Today’s check presentation is an important moment for Hunterdon County, as we accept this historic federal grant to be used for the construction of the second phase of the new Emergency Services Training Center. On behalf of my colleagues, we want to thank Congressman Kean for his leadership and commitment to Hunterdon County and our first responders,” Kuhl said.
The final phase of the Emergency Services Training Center will include the construction of a 12,000 square foot indoor training space with expansive classroom capacity, that will allow for multiple training sessions to take place simultaneously, along with the construction of a 5,500 square foot storage garage and trench rescue simulator.
“Collectively, the construction of this project will position Hunterdon County to have one of the premier first responder training facilities in New Jersey. I would like to thank the Commissioner Board, along with Congressman Kean for their support of this project. We look forward to continuing to expand our ability to offer best-in-class training and emergency services education to Hunterdon County first responders in this state-of-the-art environment,” Fahey said.
