Driver suffers medical emergency near his propane truck in Morris County; gas shut off by first responders

JEFFERSON TOWNSHIP, NJ (Morris County) — Emergency crews responded Friday evening after a man suffered a medical emergency near his propane truck on Cayuga Trail, located in the Oak Ridge section of the township, prompting safety concerns due to a strong odor of gas in the area, according to Jefferson Township Police Captain Robert Bush.

Officers arrived at the scene around the time of the call and found a man down near his propane truck, along with a strong smell of propane in the air. With the assistance of the Milton First Aid Squad, officers immediately began life-saving measures, Bush said.

Jefferson Township Fire Company also responded and successfully shut off the propane supply from the truck. While nearby residents were notified about the presence of propane in the air, no mandatory evacuations were ordered, Bush said.

The driver was transported to St. Clare’s Denville Hospital for further treatment. Their current condition is not known.
