Firefighters extinguish chimney, attic fire in Sussex County

HAMPTON TOWNSHIP, NJ (Sussex County) – Firefighters extinguished a chimney and attic fire in a Sussex County home on Saturday afternoon, according to New Jersey State Police spokesperson Trooper Troy McNair.

The fire was reported at around 1:01 p.m. at a residence on Route 519 in Hampton Township, McNair said.

Upon trooper’s arrival, the chimney and attic were on fire and everyone was evacuated, McNair said.

No injuries were reported and the cause of the fire remains under investigation, McNair said.
