Firefighters rescue dog, contain Morris County house fire

EAST HANOVER TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Morris County) — Firefighters quickly extinguished a house fire Sunday at 1 Preston Avenue in East Hanover Township, rescuing the family’s dog and preventing significant damage to the home, officials said.

According to authorities, crews responded to the residential blaze earlier in the day and contained the fire shortly after arrival through coordinated teamwork. No injuries were reported.

During the operation, firefighters located and safely rescued the family dog, reuniting it with its owners.

Township officials commended the professionalism and rapid response of East Hanover’s firefighters, police officers, and EMS personnel, as well as neighboring departments from Whippany, Livingston, Parsippany, and Florham Park, which provided mutual aid.

“We’re grateful for the dedication and professionalism of our East Hanover Fire Department, Police Officers, and EMS personnel who ensured everyone’s safety,” township officials said.
