GoFundMe organized for Hunterdon County family after devastating house fire
KINGWOOD TOWNSHIP, NJ (Hunterdon County) — A fire has tragically destroyed the home of Julia Hasson and her family in Kingwood Township, leaving them to mourn the loss of their home.
The devastating fire broke out on Friday at around 3:17 p.m. on Oak Grove Road, destroying all of their possessions and leaving them without a place to live.
When troopers arrived, the residence was fully engulfed in flames. No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire remains under investigation, according to New Jersey State Police spokesperson Sergeant Jeffrey Lebron.
In response to the tragedy, Amanda Mitchko, a close friend of the family, has set up a GoFundMe campaign to provide immediate assistance to help the family get back on their feet. The campaign, which was launched to support the Hasson family, aims to raise funds for essential needs such as food, clothing, temporary shelter, pet supplies, and ultimately, the resources to rebuild their lives.
“This beautiful family, known for their kindness, resilience, and love for animals, is now starting over from scratch,” Mitchko wrote in her GoFundMe description. “They’ve lost not just their possessions, but also their home, a place filled with memories, warmth, and the love of their cherished pets.”
The Hasson family is not only dealing with the destruction of their home, but also the urgent need to care for their pets, who were affected by the fire. Mitchko expressed how the family’s love for animals makes this loss even more difficult, as their pets are in desperate need of care and supplies.
Mitchko is urging the community to come together in support of the family, emphasizing that no donation is too small. Whether it’s financial support or sharing the GoFundMe campaign to spread the word, every act of kindness will make a significant difference as the family faces the overwhelming challenge of rebuilding their lives.
“Please join me in showing their family that they’re not alone in this difficult time and that kindness and support can help rebuild what’s been lost,” Mitchko added.
A cat was found alive in the basement, but the family is still searching for one of the puppies that ran away during the chaos of the fire. If you live in the Oak Grove Road/Pittstown Road area, be on the lookout for the young pup.
