Grand jury indicts Hunterdon County woman in deadly stabbing

RARITAN TOWNSHIP, NJ (Hunterdon County) – A Hunterdon County grand jury has indicted a woman in the fatal stabbing of a 66-year-old man in Raritan Township, according to Hunterdon County Prosecutor Renée M. Robeson.

Domonique Preston, 45, of Raritan Township was indicted on Thursday on first-degree murder, fourth-degree unlawful possession of a weapon, and third-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, Robeson said.

On Wednesday, Feb. 21, at around 1:40 a.m., police responded to a 9-1-1 call that reported a stabbing at a residence in the 100 block of Manchester Road, Robeson said.

Officers subsequently located a deceased 66-year-old male, later identified as Steven Spivey, who exhibited a stab wound to his left shoulder area. Officers further encountered Preston, who resides in the home, and arrested her at the scene, Robeson said.

Preston is being held in Warren County Correctional Facility pending her trial. She is represented by Herminia A. Moreira, Esq.

A first-degree murder charge may result in criminal penalties including, but not limited to, a mandatory state prison term between 30 years and life imprisonment. Third-degree charges may result in criminal penalties including, but not limited to, a term of imprisonment between three and five years and a fine not to exceed $15,000. Fourth-degree charges may result in criminal penalties including, but not limited to, a term of imprisonment up to eighteen months and a fine not to exceed $10,000.
