HACKETTSTOWN, NJ (Warren County) – Hackettstown’s Halloween Downtown event will be held this Saturday, Oct. 28 and police are warning motorists to expect road closures and traffic delays.
West Moore Street between Washington Street and Route 46 will be closed from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., police said.
The following roads will be closed from 2:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.:
- West Moore Street between Beatty Street and Second Avenue.
- First Avenue between Grand Avenue and West Moore Street.
- West Moore Street along with the side streets from Beatty Street to Washington Street will be closed as the parade proceeds to the gazebo.
Expect traffic delays in the area, police said.
The Hackettstown Parking Authority is providing free parking in all municipal parking lots and metered parking spaces on Saturday, police said.
The event will be held from 3:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. at The Gazebo, located at the corner of Main Street and West Moore Street.
The parade line up begins at 2:00 p.m. at Centenary University on West Moore St between First Avenue and Second Avenue.
The parade begins at 3:00 p.m. at Centenary University, goes down West Moore Street, to the Main Street Gazebo where kids will be able to get some candy from Mars Wrigley, a gift from Atlantic Health System/Hackettstown Medical Center, a free pumpkin donated by Donaldson Farms – Farm Market, gifts from Wawa, and gifts from WRNJ Radio. All while supplies last.
There will be a prize given out for the best costume for each of the following groups:
- Infant to 3-years-old
- 4-years-old to 6-years-old
- 7-years-old to10-years-old
- Family
- Pet (Any Age)
After the parade, kids will then be able to Trick-or-Treat at the downtown businesses and Trunk-or-Treat from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. in the rear parking lot of Trinity United Methodist Church located at 213 Main St.
The event is sponsored by the Hackettstown Police Department and co-sponsored by Mars Wrigley, Centenary University, Hackettstown Business Improvement District, Atlantic Health System/Hackettstown Medical Center, WRNJ Radio, Donaldson Farms, and Wawa.
