Hanover Wind Symphony reschedules free “American Anthems” concert to July 24 in Morris Township

MORRIS TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Morris County) — The Hanover Wind Symphony’s free outdoor “American Anthems” concert, originally slated for earlier this month, has been rescheduled due to inclement weather. The concert will now take place on Thursday, July 24, at 7 p.m., at Ginty Field on Woodland Avenue in Morris Township.

Attendees are encouraged to bring their own chairs or blankets to enjoy an evening of patriotic and original music under the summer sky.

“The Hanover Wind Symphony invites you to celebrate America and experience the music that represents her,” said Matthew Paterno of Parsippany, HWS musical director and conductor. “Enjoy both patriotic and original works that speak to the majesty and resilience of our country.”

The program includes a lineup of stirring patriotic favorites and notable American compositions:

  • “Captain America March” by Alan Silvestri, arranged by Michael Brown
  • “This Is My Country” by Don Raye and Al Jacobs
  • “American Overture for Band” by Joseph Wilcox Jenkins
  • “Americans We” by Henry Fillmore
  • “A Sousa Portrait” by John Philip Sousa, arranged by Robert Foster, with narration by Dr. James Sodt of Sparta, known as the “Voice” of the Hanover Wind Symphony
  • “America the Beautiful” by Samuel Ward, arranged by Carmen Dragon
  • “Variations on ‘America’” by Charles Ives, conducted by Ayden Khan of Wayne, HWS associate musical director
  • “The National Game” by John Philip Sousa
  • “A Jubilant Overture” by Alfred Reed, conducted by guest Rich Barrieres of Stockholm, a founding HWS member
  • “The Stars and Stripes Forever” by John Philip Sousa
