
Home heavily damaged in Sussex County fire; no injuries reported
ANDOVER TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Sussex County) — A residential structure fire caused significant damage to a home Wednesday night in Andover Township, authorities said.
Emergency crews were dispatched at approximately 7:19 p.m. to Cove Hollow Court following reports of a fire and possible explosions.
Upon arrival, police and fire personnel found heavy flames and smoke engulfing an attached garage. The fire quickly spread into the main living area of the home, prompting a multi-agency response.
Fire departments from Andover Township, Andover Borough, Newton, Sparta and Ogdensburg responded to the scene. Additional units from Byram, Fredon, Green, Hampton, Vernon, McAfee and Stillwater assisted with water supply operations. Atlantic EMS and Newton EMS also responded, along with the Sussex County Fire Marshal’s Office and county fire coordinators.
Crews operated at the scene for more than five hours, officials said.
All occupants were able to evacuate the home safely before emergency personnel arrived, and no injuries were reported.
Authorities said the residence sustained catastrophic damage.
The cause and origin of the fire remain under investigation by the Andover Township Police Department, the Sussex County Fire Marshal’s Office and the Sussex County Prosecutor’s Office.
