Hunterdon County Commissioner Soloway attends Rolling Thunder’s “Ride For Freedom”
HUNTERDON COUNTY, NJ – The 35th Anniversary “Ride for Freedom”, in support of POW/MIA and Veterans’ issues, took place on Sunday, May 28.
Approximately 500 Rolling Thunder motorcyclists started the ride at the Hunterdon County South County Fair Grounds, and rumbled southbound to the Washington Crossing Park, in New Jersey. Following the ride, participants and spectators were able to return to the 4-H Fair Grounds for food and music.
Commissioner Susan Soloway attended the event and shared, “This Ride for Freedom is not just a parade for motorcyclists, it is a demonstration to pay respect to those who gave their lives for everyday freedom. More than 80,000 American Service Personnel are missing from previous conflicts and war, and this ride helps commemorate their memory and to ensure that they are not forgotten, and efforts continue to bring them home.”
Rolling Thunder was incorporated in 1995 as a non-profit organization with more than 90 chapters in the United States. While several the Rolling Thunder members are veterans who ride motorcycles, it is not necessary in order to be a member. They are united in the cause of bringing accountability for the Prisoners-of-War and Missing In Action of all wars, living by the statement: “We Will Not Forget.”
Rolling Thunder has held their annual “Ride for Freedom” at the South County Fairgrounds for the past four years.
“The Commissioner Board continues to be honored to host Rolling Thunder at the South County Fairgrounds and we hope to able to continue to partner with this wonderful organization for years to come,” Soloway said.
