Hunterdon County Commissioners celebrate teen creativity with viewing of 2024-2025 NJ State Teen Arts Touring Visual Arts Festival
FLEMINGTON, NJ (Hunterdon County) – The Hunterdon County Commissioner Board recently viewed inspiring artwork from the 2024-2025 New Jersey State Teen Arts Touring Visual Arts Festival, which is on display for the month of March at the Hunterdon Historic Courthouse.
The exhibit showcases the exceptional talent and creativity of New Jersey’s young artists and celebrates the power of the arts to enrich and connect communities.
Commissioner Zach Rich, who also serves as the liaison to the Culture & Heritage Commission, expressed his admiration for the young artists, stating, “I am extremely impressed by the artistic talent of our young people and the depth and variety of artwork they have put forth. I encourage the community to visit the Historic Courthouse and celebrate these exceptional students and their contributions to the arts.”
Adding to the excitement surrounding this exhibit is the resurgence of Hunterdon County’s own Teen Arts Festival, which made its comeback in April 2024. This event was made possible through a partnership between the Cultural & Heritage Commission, the Hunterdon County Library, county schools, and non-profit organizations. The festival brought together 550 talented students from eight schools across Hunterdon County to celebrate artistic expression. The local festival also provided an important platform for young artists to advance to the state-level festival.
The State Teen Arts Festival is an annual event that brings together the most promising middle and high school artists from across New Jersey. Participants submit work in various mediums, including painting, photography, sculpture, and mixed media. This month-long exhibit at the Historic Courthouse features selected pieces that earned recognition during the festival, offering visitors a unique opportunity to experience the creativity of the next generation of artists.
Commissioner Rich added, “This exhibit represents not only the creative spirit of the participating students but also highlights the continued support and advocacy for art education within our county and the state.”
Visitors can view the exhibit at the Hunterdon Historic Courthouse, located on Main Street in Flemington, throughout March. For more information, contact the Director of Culture & Heritage, Natalie Zaman, at nzaman@co.hunterdon.nj.us. Admission is free and open to the public.
