Hunterdon County commissioners host municipal collaboration breakfast
KINGWOOD TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Hunterdon County) — The Hunterdon County Board of Commissioners hosted a Municipal Collaboration Breakfast on March 27, bringing together local leaders to discuss shared services, economic development and community initiatives.
Held at Razberry’s Banquet Center, the event included municipal officials, community partners and county leadership, including Commissioner Director John E. Lanza, Commissioners Susan Soloway and Shaun C. Van Doren, and County Clerk Mary Melfi.
Lanza emphasized the importance of cooperation among local governments.
“When we bring our municipal leaders together, we create an opportunity to share ideas, discuss priorities, and work more closely as partners,” said Commissioner Director Lanza. “By working collaboratively, we can better serve our residents and help ensure the long-term success of our communities.”
Discussions focused on strengthening partnerships between the county and municipalities, with topics including shared services, senior programming and economic development efforts.
Officials also highlighted a new municipal lending program through the Hunterdon County Improvement Authority, which allows municipalities to leverage the county’s Aaa bond rating to reduce borrowing costs for capital projects.
According to an independent analysis by Phoenix Advisors, municipalities could have saved nearly $700,000 annually on borrowing costs if the program had previously been in place.
Attendees also received updates on county initiatives and heard about ongoing efforts to support senior residents.
Several communities were recognized for achieving Film Ready New Jersey designation, a statewide program designed to attract film and television production. Frenchtown, Lambertville and Clinton, along with Hunterdon County, received the designation, while Flemington was acknowledged as nearing full approval.
County officials said the designation could help generate economic activity and bring increased visibility to the region.
The event provided an opportunity for local leaders to exchange ideas and explore ways to better serve residents through coordinated efforts.
Lanza thanked attendees and emphasized the importance of continued collaboration between the county and its municipalities.
