Hunterdon County Senior Services Expo connects residents with resources
RARITAN TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Hunterdon County) — Hunterdon County officials recently joined residents, service providers and community organizations at the annual Hunterdon County Senior Services Expo, which connected older adults, caregivers and families with local resources and support.
The event, hosted by the Hunterdon County Division of Senior, Disabilities and Veterans’ Services, was held at the Hunterdon County Senior Center.
Hunterdon County Commissioner Shaun Van Doren and County Clerk Mary H. Melfi attended the expo, which brought together local agencies, health care providers, nonprofit organizations and county departments.
Attendees were able to learn about programs and services related to health care, wellness, transportation, nutrition, caregiving support, benefits assistance, housing resources and other issues related to maintaining independence and quality of life.
Representatives from participating organizations were available throughout the event to answer questions and provide direct assistance to residents.
Van Doren, who serves as the Board of County Commissioners’ liaison to the Department of Human Services, met with exhibitors and attendees and emphasized the importance of ensuring seniors and their families have access to reliable information, services and community support.
“The Senior Services Expo reflects Hunterdon County’s ongoing commitment to supporting older adults and helping them remain active, informed, and connected within our communities,” said Commissioner Van Doren. “It was encouraging to see so many residents taking advantage of the opportunity to engage directly with organizations providing valuable programs and services. Whether related to health and wellness, transportation, education, or social engagement, these resources play an important role in enhancing quality of life for our senior population.”
Melfi also met with residents and shared information about services offered through the County Clerk’s Office.
“The Senior Services Expo is an excellent example of county government and community partners working together to serve our residents,” said Clerk Melfi. “Many older adults and caregivers are seeking trusted information and direct access to services, and this event provides a welcoming forum to make those connections. It was a pleasure to meet with attendees and help highlight resources that can make a meaningful difference in their daily lives.”
County officials said the annual expo is designed to provide a one-stop opportunity for residents to learn about services available to older adults while strengthening connections among seniors, caregivers, county agencies and community organizations.
Officials thanked the staff of the Division of Senior, Disabilities and Veterans’ Services, participating exhibitors and volunteers for helping make the event a success.
County leaders said they remain committed to supporting initiatives that help older adults remain healthy, independent, engaged and connected throughout the community as participation and programming at the Hunterdon County Senior Center continue to expand.
