Roxbury Public Schools named 2025 National District of Character
ROXBURY TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Morris County) — Roxbury Public Schools has been named a 2025 National District of Character by Character.org, a national organization that promotes character development in schools and communities.
Roxbury is one of only three school districts nationwide, along with 71 individual schools, to receive the distinction this year.
National certification is the highest level of recognition awarded by Character.org. Districts that earn the title of National District of Character demonstrate excellence in fostering a district-wide culture rooted in the organization’s 11 Principles Framework for Schools: A Guide to Cultivating a Culture of Character.
“We are pleased to announce and celebrate the schools and school districts that have earned this national recognition,” said Dr. Arthur Schwartz, president of Character.org. “Each of these schools has put in place a comprehensive approach to help students understand, care about, and consistently practice the character strengths that will help them flourish in school, in relationships, in the workplace, and as citizens.”
Since its launch, the National Schools of Character program has reached more than three million students, educators, families, and community members.
“There is an ethic of care at these schools,” said Lori Soifer, director of the Schools of Character program. “Working together with students, parents, and community members, these schools are creating stronger communities focused on character.”
