Update: Wildfire in Morris County now 85% contained

ROCKAWAY TOWNSHIP, NJ (Morris County) – The New Jersey Forest Fire Service crews continue to battle the Microwave Wildfire in Rockaway Township, with current estimates showing the fire has burned 77 acres and is 85% contained.

Three structures are currently threatened, but there have been no evacuations reported. Jacobs Road remains closed to traffic as crews work to secure the area.

Firefighting resources include hand crews and engines from the Forest Fire Service, along with support from local Morris County fire companies providing structure protection. On Saturday afternoon, a helicopter capable of dropping 350 gallons of water made 15 drops to assist in combating the flames.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
