Hunterdon Health celebrates grand opening of expanded Dr. Laurence M. Russell Jr. Campus at Phillips-Barber

LAMBERTVILLE, N.J. (Hunterdon County) — The long-anticipated expansion of the Dr. Laurence M. Russell Jr. Campus at Phillips-Barber is officially complete, marking a new chapter in healthcare for Lambertville, New Hope, and surrounding communities.

On October 4, 2025, donors and friends of the Hunterdon Health Foundation gathered for a grand opening celebration, unveiling a reimagined campus designed to deliver advanced care close to home. The updated facility features a specialty suite with a rotating lineup of medical specialists, new radiology and mammography services, and a physical therapy space set to open soon.

Guests toured the modern, light-filled space and viewed a special video presentation highlighting how donor generosity helped make the project — and many of the Foundation’s 2024 achievements — possible.

The evening’s celebration reflected the power of vision and philanthropy, with speakers noting that the project fulfilled a dream two decades in the making.

“A dream discussed for 20 years now stands as a vibrant, fully realized center of care—proof that our donors’ commitment is transforming healthcare today and setting the pace for what comes next,” the Foundation said.

The event drew local leaders and members of the Hunterdon Health team, including Dr. Patricia Kroth, program director of Hunterdon Family Medicine Residency; Dr. Melissa Burgos, medical director at Phillips-Barber; Dr. K.C. Rodello, chairman of the Hunterdon Health System Board; Kristy Alfano, chief operating officer; Andrew Nowick, mayor of Lambertville; Patrick Gavin, president and CEO of Hunterdon Health; Dr. John Waters, former medical director at Phillips-Barber; and Dr. Jessica Codjoe, chief physician executive.

The Hunterdon Health Foundation serves as the fundraising arm of Hunterdon Health System, supporting Hunterdon Medical Center and its affiliated nonprofit organizations. The Foundation’s mission is to ensure that the community continues to receive high-quality, compassionate healthcare through partnerships with individual donors, corporations, and charitable foundations.
