Impaired driver flees crash, leaves behind license plate

DENVILLE TOWNSHIP, NJ (Morris County) – A Morris County woman is facing multiple charges after police say she fled the scene from a crash early Monday morning in Denville Township, according to police.

The crash happened at around 12:45 a.m. on North Shore Road, police said.

During the crash investigation, it was determined that one of the vehicles fled the scene prior to the officer’s arrival and the license plate of the suspect’s vehicle was left at the scene, police said.

After a brief investigation, officers were able to locate the vehicle and the driver, who was identified as Laura Decroce, 48, of Denville Township, police said.

Decroce was arrested and charged with both driving while under the influence and aggravated vehicular assault due to the injuries sustained at the crash by the other driver. She was also charged with careless driving, reckless driving, failure to maintain lane, failure to report a crash, leaving the scene of a motor vehicle crash with injuries and refusing to provide breath samples for testing, police said.

Decroce was then released pending a court appearance, police said.
